Essay 2-03b: learning with computers

Today I would like to write about learning with computers. At first, for students, computers would remind them of a lot of homework. And, a lot of homework would remind them of many classes. Students have a lot of homework. For students, computers are indispensable.

Today I would like to focus on students who are majoring English in this university. They have a lot of English classes, for example, speaking, reading, writing, listening, and other classes. They have a lot of opportunities to use computers to do their homework because they have a lot of homework. In addition to this, they can't do their homework without computers.

In speaking class, we have some homework. One of those is online study and practice. That is English central. We have to make many points by the end of each term to get credits. Speaking English every day is very important because it will give them muscle for speaking English.

One of speaking class' homework is making presentations about a country, food, dish and so on. To make presentations, we have to search a lot. Of course, we use computers. Especially Internet is most useful for them. After searching, we use presentation, one of computer functions.

In writing class, we have much homework, that is, essays, book reviews, diary and typing practices. We have to write 15,000 words by the end of this term including 18 book reviews and 15 typing homework. Through those homework, students became good at typing. This skill will be good for them in the near future.

In reading class, we have some assignments. We have to search some headlines from newspapers. After searching, we have to gather them up. Our teacher from reading class is considerate, so we have to use Word, one of office tools. In addition to this, we have another homework, that is, PowerWords. That is site for studying vocabularies.

In listening class, we use a computer for doing my homework. Our homework is listening but it can't be listened to the homework by iPhone maybe. That's too inconvenient.  So, students always use computers. For students, computers are indispensable.

Through this essay, you might find that students always learn with computers. As a university student, computers are indispensable. Using them is more important. Computers are so convenient but there are some bad points. When you use a computer, you should take care of them and use them well.

Essay 2-03a: Spending with computers

Today I would like to write about learning with computers. At first, computers remind me of a lot of homework. And, a lot of homework reminds me of speaking, writing, reading, listening and other classes. I have a lot of homework.

I have my own computer. My father gave it to me. It is portable and Windows 8. However, to tell the truth, it is inconvenient for me. Oops, not inconvenient. It is TOO convenient for me.

In speaking class, I have homework. That one ie online study and practice. That is English central. We have to make 80,000 points by the end of this term. These day, I haven't done it. I little regretted to do it during summer vacation but doing it every day is very important I think. I need English muscle.

One of speaking class' homework is making presentations about a country, food and dish. I've made a restaurant with my friends, Yui and Tomohiro as homework. I made menu and I do a presentation.

In writing class, I have much homework. I have essay and report. In addition to this, I have to write book reviews and diary. We have to write 15,000 words by the end of this term. I wrote a lot but these days, I didn't it. We have to write 18 book reviews too. I've written 11 book reviews. 7 more to go. One of my friends has done. She is so great.

In reading class, I often use a computer. We have some assignments. We have to search some headlines from newspapers. Searching is difficult but I saw English newspapers for the first time due to these assignments. My teacher from reading class is considerate, so we have to use Word, one of office tools. I enjoyed learning new methods about it. I sometimes search English news on Internet. That's so convenient.

In listening class, I use a computer for doing my homework. My homework is listening but I can't listen to the homework by my iPhone. Why~~ That's too inconvenient.  So, I always use a computer in building no.14 at this university.
E-campus center is convenient, so I recommend you to use this place.

I've wrote to find that I always learn with computers. As a university student, computers are indispensable. Using them is more important I think. Computers are so convenient but there are some bad points. When I use a computer, I'll take care of them and use them well.

Essay 2-01c: Learning Languages

Today I would like to write about all of the languages I've learned. I've learned 4 languages including Japanese and English. Of course, I've learned Japanese while my life. I started to learn English when I entered junior high school. I've learned French. I studied it when I was first grade in this university. This year I'm learning Korean so I've learned 4 languages.

At first, I would like to write about Japanese. I was born in Fukushima, Japan because my mother was born and grew up there, that is, Fukushima is her home. So I've learned Japanese from my birth. At first, I learned it by listening, of course. I became able to write hiragana before entering an elementary school because my father and mother taught it to me.

After entering school, I learned hiragana, katakana and characters. Teachers taught it to me and my classmates. Learning characters was difficult but interesting. When we learn a character, my teacher and classmate say "Yoko (means to draw a line horizontally), Yoko, Tate (means to draw a line vertically), Yoko and Naname." loudly. I was so ashamed because my family name is Yokota so I was feeling like being called. haha

When I was a junior high school student, I learned characters of couse. In addition, I began to learn easy classics and the Chinese classics. It was so difficult to understand but my teacher taught to me and my classmate carefully. Thanks to her, I got good scores on tests. Now you say it, I had to memorize "Jetavana-vihara." It was more interesting than I had expected.

When I was a high school student, I learned classics and the Chinese classics. They were too difficult for me but I had to study for entering universities. I studied hard with my classmates. Japanese including them is too difficult but there are many learners of Japanese in the world. So, I respect them.

Second, I would like to write about English. I started to learn it when I entered junior high school. My English teacher was very funny so I enjoyed English classes. Thanks to her, I became to like English and I studied it very hard. Every day I studied at home. I did my reviews and preparation. I think I was good student. My old junior high school was near my house so I had more time than my friends. Thanks to it, I studied it very hard.

When I was a third-year in junior high school, I took an English class as an optional subject. The teacher said “Listening to a radio English lesson is very good. Hope for you to do.” So I began to listen to a radio English lesson every day. It was a lot of fun but I didn't think that I became a good listener. However, it was very important to listen to English every day so I think that efforts didn't waste.

When I entered high school, I studied English very hard because my old high school was preparatory school. The way was almost for entering universities so I was good at writing, reading and grammar. These skills are called written language. I learned it in English Education class. I had few chance to talk with foreign people. That class was Oral communication class but I had it when I was first grade student in high school.

So when I entered this university, I was shocked. I couldn't speak at all. I couldn't listen at all. I wasn't good at speaking and listening, that is, spoken language. However, thanks to classes in this university I became good speaker and listener, maybe. I have talked with many foreign people. I'm glad to take classes from native teacher. This year, I had exams and got a chance to studying abroad to Montana State University from next summer as an exchange student. I'll do my best!

Third, I would like to write about French. I learned it when I was a first-year in this university. That's why I chose was lack of seriousness. My best friend from high school goes to a university in Tokyo to study French. So I chose it. Learning it was difficult but it was interesting. Tests are easy so I could get good scores. Someday I want to speak French fluently. If my best friend can go to French as an exchange student, I would like to go there.

The last, I'm learning Korean this year in this university. That's why I started is I want to improve my English skill, especially pronunciation. Pronunciation between Korean and English has many points of likeness. In addition, my cousin and my sister are studying abroad to Korea now so I was interested in Korea. Though I'm not interested in K-POP... I'm studying it one class in a week. I became able to read. It's difficult but interesting. I want to study more!

Learning languages is a lot of fun I think. I would like to study more and I want to be a good speaker, listener, writer and reader in Japanese, English, French and Korean. Next time, I want to try to study German and Spanish because these days these languages are in great demand I think but I don't do now because I don't want to leave it in this state. It's halfway. So I will do my best for studying languages just ahead.

Essay 1-03a: Joint movie comparisos

This essay is about Robin Hood. There are many versions in this movie.

At first, let's watch the movie in Disney version. Robin Hood is a 1973 American animated film produced by the Walt Disney Productions, and its first release is in the United States on November 8, 1973. The 21st animated feature in the Walt Disney Animated Classics series and the film is based on the legend of Robin Hood, but uses anthropomorphic animals instead of people.

The stage is animal world in England. Robin Hood lives as thief in Sherwood Forest. He was loved by everyone because he extorts money from nobleman, divides and gives money to everyone. One day, Prince John picks up unfair tax from poor people. Robin Hood decided to call back King Richard with Little John and Friar Tuck etc... They are Robin Hood’s fellow. People suffered for despotism because they are taxed heavily from Prince John. He takes advantage of King Richard's absence to have everything his way. Robin was a master of the bows. Finally, Robin and his fellows have it out of Prince John, and Robin get married to Marian.

It is easier to watch and understand than original version, so children can understand and enjoy it. It is good for children education. Roughly speaking, main person of Robin Hood is replaced fox in this movie. Other people are replaced many animals too, for example, Little John of Robin Hood's best partner is bear, Maid Marian of heroine is vixen and Prince John of bad prince is lion. It is fantasy, but they are cute. Skippy who longs to be like a Robin Hood is popular character. He is rabbit in this movie. It is very cute because it is small and his voice is very cute too.
Also it is good combination of soundtrack in this movie. It is rhythmical and exciting. There are 7 soundtracks in this movie.
1.      "Whistle-Stop" written and sung by Roger Miller
2.      "Oo De Lally" written and sung by Roger Miller as Alan-a-Dale the rooster.
3.      "Love" written by Floyd Huddleston and George Bruns, and sung by Nancy Adams.
4.      "The Phony King of England" written by Johnny Mercer and sung by Phil Harris,
5.      "The Phony King of England Reprise" sung by Terry-Thomas and Pat Buttram.
6.      "Not In Nottingham" written and sung by Roger Miller
7.      "Love Goes On/Oo-De-Lally Reprise" sung by Chorus.

Its director is Kevin Reynolds. Starring Morgan Freeman in "Million Dollar Baby" and Kevin Costner in "Dances with Wolves".

When Robin (Kevin Costner) came back to his hometown from the expedition of the Crusades in the late 12th century, his father was gone. He was killed by George of Nottingham prince who wants to strengthen his control. Not only that, Nottingham prince (Alan Rickman) oppressed people. Robin knew its fact and he decided to fight to save people from Nottingham prince with his fellow.

It is more difficult to understand than Disney version. There are many themes in this movie. For example, war, immigration, religion, discrimination and love. Many people were killed in this movie, so it was terrible. Robin Hood overcomes his many troubles. Finally, he gets married to Marian. Its scene is best scene. It is romantic, so the end is happy. Robin Hood is cool, of course, his action is cool too! In addition to, actor (Kevin Costner) is very handsome! Maybe many people will be attracted by his looks. His looks is one of the another charm in this movie. He is famous actor in the US. He fought bravely in this movie. Also he is expert archer.

Let’s watch the Robin Hood movie version in 2010. The story was made in America and The UK. The story is relative history. The story is set in the age of the Crusades. So you will interest. The story is very interesting. Because there are love and be kindness in the story. The actor and the actress had be awarded a prize an Academy Award in the movie.

The character is Robert and Mary and Richard. The story is Robert save England. Robert met difficulty. He can overcome difficulty because he is good at archery. He is kind and honest person. The Richard king is foolish because he breaks his promise with nation. Mary loves the spot and she is strong. Robert pretend Mary’s husband. If Robert should it, Mary doesn’t defend her hometown.

The movie may don’t understand at first. But you will understand to watch to the very end. And you will very interest. Robert is strong. If you watch to think, you will interest powerful in this movie. This movie is wonderful scene particularly. The hero and the heroine of the movie is strong and cool. It is the highlight of a film. The credits roll of movie is beautiful. So you will watch credits roll by all mean when you watch this movie.

Lastly, let’s watch the latest version. Tom and Jerry: Robin Hood and His Merry Mouse is a 2012 animated direct-to-video film starring Tom and Jerry, and produced by Warner Bros. Its director is Spike Brandt and Tony Cervone, and producer is them. Its release date is October 2, 2012. Its running time is 58 minutes. Its country is United States, of course, its language is English.

This movie is very good. Perhaps, this is the most interesting version. In this movie, Robin Hood is like Peter Pan, and the evil Sheriff of Nottingham is like Captain Hook. Tom and Jerry is always battling, but this time they helped King Richard in cooperation. It’s very good. Tom and Jerry are always cute, and Robin Hood and his merry men are cool. Maid Marian is strong woman and cute too.

This movie is good movie. Especially, Disney version is easier to understand than original version. If you watch for the first time, please watch Disney version at first. If you haven't watched yet, please watch someday! Tom and Jerry version is good too.

Essay 1-02a: University Life

I would like to talk about my university life today. First of all, I introduce my every day timetable. In fact I'm not good at getting up early. Before sleeping, in my bed I usually spend time with net surfing and think that I want to do more. Because of this foolish notion, sometimes i sleep late and oversleep. After waking up, i wash my face, change my clothes, have break fast, wash my tooth and make up.

I usually go to school by bus, and sometimes my father or mother send off  me to my university because my parents can go to work with going past the front of my university. Also, they sometimes pick me up at my university. I really appreciate them. I can go to school by bicycle but I'm scared small path near a Kokai bridge. It's under the construction now, and after completion, i might go to school by bicycle.

My major is English, and I have 17 classes in a week. I take classes to be a teacher, and I have more classes than my friends. I started to take a Korean class this year. Frankly, my cousin lives in Korea and my younger sister is studying abroad in there. When I five grade, I stayed there with a host family in 2 days and 1 night. The host mother is Japanese and she acted as an interpreter. Thanks to her, I could have a nice home stay. Next time I want to communicate with them without interpreter, and I began to take a Korean class. It's exciting!

I have dreams. First, it's to study abroad. I think that it's hard to live in other country, but it's good experience. I want to be a nice English speaker. I'm good at writing and reading because I had studied very hard when I was a high school student. however, i'm not good at listening. I can understand words while looking at scripts, but I can't understand without looking. I really regret not having challenged to improve my speaking and listening skills. So I want to study abroad and challenge to spend every day with real English, but I haven't decided where to go because I can't decide. All country are attractive for me. Second, it's to be engaged with children and English in the future. I want to be an English teacher now, but this dream might change.

To tell the truth, I had only some friends in university when I entered this university. However, I have many friends now. I always have lunch with my friends and it was a lot of fun. I really enjoy spending time with my friends while talking. There are many interesting friends around me. Also, everyone is cute I think. I'm not in cycle, but there are various relationships with various people. I appreciate the truth.

I became sophomore this year and I have many homework than last year. In writing class I have to post book reviews, dairy, essays and so on in my blog. I'm good at writing and it's fun. Last year I took writing Ⅰ and Ⅱ, and I wrote journals and I became to be a nice writer...just kidding. In speaking class I have to practice at English Central. At first I thought that it's hard for me, but these days I became to enjoy practice pronunciation. I'm not good a speaker, and it's good for me to improve my pronunciation. I'll do my best!

Lastly I write about my travel plans. I like to travel. If I were more rich. I would travel abroad. After I graduated from high school, I had a family trip to Oita and a trip with my best friend to HUIS TEN BOSCH. I write memories in my blog someday. I want to Tokyo Disney Resort this year because Tokyo Disney Land became 30th anniversary year, that is, happiness year. I have never been there, and I really really want to go there this year. I'm looking forward to the day!

Essay 1-01a: Dear Host Family

Hi, I’m Yukie. Thank you for having me at your home. I’m 19 years old girl. I’m KGU student, and my major is English. I live in Kumamoto, Japan with my family, dad, mam, a younger sister, and a younger brother.

My hobbies are watching movies, cooking sweets, walking, playing the saxophone, and listening to music. When I was a junior high school and a high school student, I joined the brass band club and played the tenor saxophone every day.

I want to be an English teacher in the future. When I was a junior high school student, I learned English for the first time. I became to be interested in and like it very much. Since then, I studied English very hard, but it was just to enter the university. I entered KGU last year, and I found that I’m not good at speaking and listening. I regretted that I didn’t challenge when I was a junior school and a high school student, so I decided to improve my English skills. When we are talking, if I make mistakes with pronounce and grammar, please teach me. I’m really glad to study abroad!

I live in Kumamoto, Japan. It is located in west Japan. There are many beautiful places to visit. Have you ever been to Kumamoto? If you haven’t been there, let’s go! My house is located in near Kumamoto castle. It is very nice place!

This homestay is second time for me. At the age of a fifth grader, I went to Korea for a week and experienced homestay 2 days and 1 night. This homestay is longer than first time challenge, so I’m nervous now, but I really look forward to. Let’s talk a lot! See you soon!
