Once upon a time, a child lived with her family at foot of a mountain.  Her name was Saki.  Recently she started letter exchange with her friend, Miki.  Miki lives in the other side foot of the mountain.  Everyday a bird carried their letters, and they were looking forward to receiving a letter. 

One day, they decided to meet at the top of the mountain at 1 o’clock on next Sunday.  There was a tree there, so they promised to wait under the tree.  They really looked forward to getting along with their friend, because they hadn't seen each other before.  Saki prepared accessories were made of beautiful shells for Miki because there was a very beautiful sea near her house.  On the other hand, Miki prepared a cute knit hat for Saki because she was good at knitting.  They prepared presents for each other.  They really looked forward to next Sunday.

Next Sunday came, but unfortunately it was heavy snow that day.  The weather was the worst.  Saki thought that I was going to meet Miki today, but she wouldn't come because of this weather, so I don’t have to go to the top of the mountain.  And she spent warming herself at a kotatsu at home.  However, Miki was different.  She thought that the weather was the worst, but Saki would come, so I mustn't break my promise.  And she went to the place for waiting for each other.  However, Saki wasn't there.  Miki waited for a long time, but Saki didn't come.  She gave up and went home.

Next day, Saki didn't receive a letter from Miki.  Saki asked the bird

“What was the matter with her?”  The bird replied

“She was in bed with a cold because she waited for you to come yesterday for a long time.”

Saki was shocked, and regretted what one has done.

She vowed never to break her promise.

Journal K

I would like to write for you as Journal K.  I took Writing 1 and Writing 2 classes this year.  I learned many things from you.  I was taught from native speaker for the first time, so I really enjoyed those classes.

I wrote several paragraphs in this year, and was checked from you.  You gave me some points.  At first, I couldn’t understand what you seek, that is, I couldn’t know what to write in English.  But you checked my paragraphs and my grammar carefully, and gave me some comments.  So I became to understand what to write, that is, what you want me write.  This skill is useful for me from now on.  I was very glad to take high score.

I wrote several journals too in this year, and was given some comments and points.  I challenged to write long essay in English for the first time.  At first, it was too difficult to do, but I became to be able to write long essay in English and quickly these days.  There is no check in terms of Journal, so I worry about my grammar.  I know you are busy, but if you had a time, I hope you check my journal, especially my grammar.

I really enjoyed class activities.  I did those activities for the first time, so I couldn’t understand the rule, but you, a senior, and classmates always help me to do those activities.  Due to many helps, I could enjoy class activities with my classmates.  Happy New Year’s card was enjoyable!  The snake oil was interesting!  Making story was difficult, but I had a nice time.  Those challenges were a good challenge for me, I think.  I was glad, because I could to speak with my classmate for the first time thorough those activities.

All activities are very useful for me.  Thank you, Mr. Waterman!

Journal J

Today, I would like to write about computers and the Internet, especially some benefits and disadvantages of the Internet.  The Internet are very useful, because we can do anything by ones, for example, e-mailing with someone even if he/she lives in the other side of the earth almost free, chatting with someone wherever they live almost free, watching YouTube, listening to various music in the world, Skype with anyone, Facebook, Twitter, and so on.  I don’t have space to write the Internet’s benefits and I omit.  

 As you know, there are many benefits, but there are some disadvantages.  For example, we don’t know what happen on the Internet.  If you were finding a girl/boyfriend online, you would be able to tell lies to her/him.  If you told lies, the secret wouldn’t be out until meeting.  So, you may be told lie, but you may believe her/him.  After meeting, you found that is a lie, but you may not be able to escape.  The accident may happen.  In the past, there are many troubles and cases, so we can’t say positively that the Internet is safe.  In addition, we can see anything and everything.  You may see something you do not want to.

 Do you know Information gap?  This refers to the gap that has arisen between those who are not literate and literate information technology.  I think some of people use computers too much, but other should use computers more.  Computers are very useful, but we can use it too much during class and chatting with friends.  I think it is strange and we have to use it when you are in good time and place.  To be sure, computers are complex, but we are easy to collect information.  So we have to tell those who not literate how to use computeres.

Journal I

Today, I would like to write about how to construct the saxophone.  Do you know about the saxophone?  It’s usually called sax.  It’s a reed instrument.  It has a various kind, which is soprano, alto, tenor, and baritone and so on.  Today, I would like to tell you about how to construct the tenor saxophone.  I played it when I was in junior high school and high school.  I joined brass band club and enjoyed playing it every day.  Let’s play it together.  Before playing, let’s construct it ; )

 Please sit down in front of the case and open the case.  First of all, we attach a neck strap to pick up the sax.  After we attach a neck strap, we pick up the sax.  Please take care of your neck because tenor sax is heavy unexpectedly.  In summer, your neck will become sweaty.  I used to use a towel between a neck strap and neck.

Today I played “Sneak Oil” in class.  First time, I received six cards; gun, job, animal, bandage, grass, and exercise from you.  Customer is runaway.  I’ll write a letter to sell my new product to that customer.  Actually, I created gun job.  I recommended you. Gun job, that is, persons who use gun due to their jobs. I think that you need something to escape. I wanted to recommend you it, but I didn't create. I'm really sorry, but I think gun job are very talented people. At first, gun job come and see you, and they make a minute inquiry into your surroundings. When they inquire into your surroundings, you mustn't speak to them and have to be silent. All you have to do is entrust everything to them. Next, they use gun. After the crack of a gun, you have to run seriously. Finally, you'll escape safely. However, they never use gun to kill person, maybe you'll be after you! Good luck!

Second time, I received six cards; moon, name, friend, dream, balloon, leash from you.  Customer is missionary.  I’ll write a letter to sell my new product to that customer.  I created moon friend.  It is a person who is living in the moon. I think that you need many people to expand his/her religion. Moon friend is a spaceman, and he/she can do anything. If you asked kindly to him/her, he/she would help you. At first, let's make friends with him/her. He/she is glad because he/she is a person without friend. Next, let's ask kindly to him/her. "I wish for expanding of my religion." Maybe, he/she will help you. Finally, you can expand your religion. Sounds good, isn’t it?

Today, I will tell you about a latest frightening experience.  What I’m going to tell you about is something that happened to me personally in summer vacation.

  In August, I went to Fukuoka with Itsuyo, Sumika, and Kyoko.
  Our place meeting was into a supper nonstop bus called Hinokuni go.
  First, I met Istuyo at a waiting room of bus center, and we got on a bus.  We sat separate seats, because we wanted to make sure of Sumika and Kyoko’s seats.
  A few minutes later, Istuyo said “I’m missing my cell phone.  Can you call it?”
I said “sure” and called, but her cell phone was missing.  We couldn’t hear the phone ringing.  When I was thinking about it, she said “I would get off a bus!”  I thought “Oh? Bus that we were getting on was driving.”  However, when the bus stopped, she explained situation to driver, and she got off the bus.  While I lost myself, she got off the bus.
  I was very surprised, but after that, I contacted Sumika and Kyoko by message.  I didn’t do anything until they got on the bus.  After meeting on the bus, we called Itsuyo, but we couldn’t get into communication with her.
  While we were not aware of it, we arrived at Tenjin.  We had a place to go to, we had a time limit.  We would take a subway, while waiting, we had lunch.  At first, we tried to enter a fast food, but we stopped, because we wanted go to the rest room.  On the way to the restroom, we found a tasty bakery, so we changed shop for lunch.  The bread was very tasty!  However, we didn’t have time, because we were lack of decision.
Just at that moment, Itsuyo were coming the bakery! 
“Wow! Why?”  We were very surprised!  She was surprised too. 
She said “I don’t know, but I came here without knowing why.”
This is something that really happened in summer vacation.

I would like to talk about celebrations.  Of course, I celebrate my family’s birthdays and my friends’ birthdays.  June 26^th was my younger sister’s 17th birthday.  We had sushi delivered and had a birthday party at home.  We ate sushi, deep-fried chicken, and cake, drinking juice.  June 17^th was Father’s day.  In this year, I, my sister, and my brother presented my father “zinbei” in a body.  Zinbei is light cotton summer clothing consisting of knee-length shorts and short-sleeved jacket, often worn at festivals.  My sister presented him a handkerchief too.  We, my family ate cake which my mother bought at delicious cake shop.  May 13^th was Mother’s day.  May 12^th was my father’s birthday, so I cooked a custard pudding tart for them.  In last March, I and my younger brother finished to take exams for college and high school.  The results of exams are failure, that is, we failed in exams.  So, we can’t go to school which is the primary target.  But, my family celebrated us doing our best.  I and my brother were happy, so Now, we do our best at present school.  In my family, we usually celebrate as often as we can.  I would like to celebrate more things in my life.  I don’t think celebrating isn’t a waste of time, because it gives me power.  I like to celebrate with someone.  It goes without saying that my family, I like to do with my friends too.  When it comes to celebrating with my friends, we usually celebrate when my friend get a boyfriend or girlfriend.  In their memorial day, I sometimes mail them. “I wish you the best!”  I feel happy to see them spend happily.  Of course, I celebrate my friend’s birthday.  June 8^th was my friend’s birthday.  I and the other my friends prepared confectioneries and I cooked cookies for her.  I was glad to see her rejoice to see cookies.  After all, I like to celebrate, because celebrating is happy, especially celebrating with someone!
